BeatMatch is a dance-practice app that lines up two videos of the same choreography so you
can compare them side by side. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your
data, on both iOS and Android.
BeatMatch is developed by Cindy Hua, an individual developer.

In short: your videos stay on your device. The only thing that ever leaves it is a short
audio track sent to our matching server to work out how to align two clips — and it is
deleted as soon as the answer comes back. There is no account, no advertising, and nothing
is sold.
1. What stays on your device
All of the following is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage, and is
never transmitted to us or anyone else:
- Your videos. Clips you import from your photo library or camera roll, and clips you
film in the app.
- Your practice library. Choreographies, takes, tags, alignment settings, crops,
volumes, segments and loops.
- Exported videos. When you export a synced pair, the result is written to your photo
library (iOS) or your gallery (Android) — on your device.
- Journal and activity history (iOS), including workouts read from Apple Health, see §4.
- Free-trial credits, stored in the system keychain (iOS).
Deleting the app removes all of it. We have no copy and no way to recover it.
2. Audio sent to our matching server
To align two clips automatically, BeatMatch needs to compare their soundtracks. This is the
one feature that requires a server.
- What is sent: the audio track only, extracted from each of the two clips — at most
the first 5 minutes of each. The video is never uploaded.
- Where: our own matching server, hosted on Render.
- Why: solely to compute the time offset between the two clips. Nothing else.
- How long it is kept: the audio is written to a temporary file, analysed, and deleted
at the end of the request. It is not archived, not reused, not used to train anything,
and not shared with anyone.
- Security: the upload uses HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
